Weather Make-Up Day Procedures

I. Purpose:

To provide guidelines and procedures for managing changes in the normal administration of the school day due to severe weather or other emergency conditions.

II.  Introduction:

When severe weather conditions result in the closing of schools, missed instructional time shall be made up according to state guidelines. 

1.    Make up time for school closures will be completed by adding one (1) hour to the school day for the period of time missed.  

Examples:  School is closed on January 6 & 7, 2014 

Day 1: January 6, 2014

School days will be extended for one (1) hour each day during the week of January 13-17, 2014. 

Day 2: January 7, 2014

School days will be extended for one (1) hour each day during the week of January 21-24, 27, 2014 (January 20 - school system closed/holiday).

  • Normal hours of operation will resume the following school day after the designated time has been made up.
  • If schools are closed for an extensive period of time other arrangements will be made according to state guidelines.

 

2.    Principals are responsible for:

  • Schedule adjustments and
  • Sporting conflicts

3.    Any employee required to report will have their schedules adjusted by their immediate supervisor (e.g., maintenance, transportation, etc.) to reflect the appropriate amount time missed.

No person shall be denied employment, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or subjected to discrimination
in any program or activity, on the basis of sex, race, religion, belief, national origin, ethnic group, or handicapping condition.
