Plans for a new Elkmont Elementary School moved one step closer to becoming a reality.
On Tuesday night during its April board meeting, school board members approved an agreement between the Limestone County Board of Education and the Alabama Elk River Development Agency for 26 acres located on Highway 127 for the new school. Thursday morning, the two groups gathered at the site to make it official.
"We are appreciative of the partnership with the Alabama Elk River Development Agency and look forward to great things in the Elkmont community as we continue to meet the needs of our students in Limestone County," Superintendent Dr. Randy Shearouse said.
