Cedar Hill students pause to reflect the 20th anniversary of 9/11
It’s a day students in Kevin Pepper’s fourth grade class at Cedar Hill Elementary don’t have memories of. None of them had been born yet.
However for Pepper, it’s a day he remembers vividly.
“It was a day I’ll never forget,” Pepper said while standing in the shadow of a flag flying at half-staff.
As the 20th anniversary of the attacks approach, students and faculty at Cedar Hill took a moment Friday morning not only to remember those who lost their lives, but to honor those who made sacrifices that day as well. They gathered around the flagpole to discuss the events of that morning in 2001 before having a moment of silence.
“Before now, I really didn’t know much about it. I just knew something bad happened that day,” said Garrett Lee, a student in Pepper’s class. “All that happened was just crazy.”
Before the morning concluded, students gathered at the back of the school to spell out USA.
