MOMENT OF REFLECTION: Today, students from several of our schools had the incredible opportunity to visit the Wall That Heals, a traveling replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, on the campus of Athens State University. This powerful experience allowed them to reflect on the sacrifices made by so many brave men and women who served our country.
While there, students learned about the history, the names etched in stone, and the enduring impact of service and sacrifice. It was a moving reminder of the importance of remembering those who gave everything for our freedom.

Laughter, high-fives, and home runs were plentiful as the Tigers special education class hosted Sparkman and Hazel Green for an adaptive baseball game.
Modified rules and volunteers made it possible for every participant to enjoy America’s favorite pastime — regardless of their challenges.
"It fills my heart every single time," Ardmore special education teacher Ashley Wales said.
The game was organized by Wales and Madison County Schools adaptive PE coach Josiah John.

FULL STEAM AHEAD: Elementary STEAM.
It’s an idea that has been talked about for some time, but now, bringing it to campuses across Limestone County has come to fruition.
In a strategic effort to enhance the areas of science, technology, engineering, agriculture, and math across the district, STEAM labs have made their debut in seven of our elementary schools to begin the new school year. Tanner Elementary School introduced STEAM during the 2022-2023 school year as a pilot program.
“Our new STEAM elementary teachers bring exciting opportunities to ignite curiosity and innovation in our students,” Limestone County Schools Superintendent Dr. Randy Shearouse said. “We are grateful to the Limestone County Board of Education for funding this important program, demonstrating their commitment to providing a strong foundation that will empower every child to thrive in an ever-evolving world.”
The new labs will provide students in grades K-5 with an opportunity to learn fundamental engineering and science concepts, along with critical thinking skills while working in a team environment.
“By integrating Science, Technology, Engineering, Agriculture, and Math into everyday learning, we are preparing Limestone County’s youngest learners to become creative problem solvers and future leaders,” Shearouse said.
Currently, students attend STEAM once a week, just as they would for other special classes like music, art, and library.

BREAKING NEW GROUND: Wednesday marked another exciting day for Limestone County Schools as we officially broke ground on the Limestone County Career Technical Center additions. This $12 million project will consist of adding 11 new classrooms, additional restrooms, expanding the auditorium/meeting room, a new front entrance, and new office space.
Limestone County Schools Superintendent Dr. Randy Shearouse is excited for the project because it will allow more students to attend Career Tech. In the fall of 2013, the Career Technical Center saw a record enrollment of 545 students. The demand has been steadily growing since, and this fall is expected to hit 1,200.
“Our board is very proactive and wants to continue to improve things in Limestone County,” Shearouse said. “One way we’re doing that is by adding on here at Career Tech so that we can accommodate more students in the future."
In addition to the building upgrades, Shearouse said the board is also looking at adding new programs such as aviation. A new health science teacher is being added as well.
Currently renovations are scheduled to take a year and a half to two years to complete.

KICKS FOR KIDS: What an amazing day for our students at Tanner Elementary School!
Every student received a FREE pair of sneakers and 5 pairs of socks, courtesy of Listerhill's Kicks for Kids Shoe Drop!
Listerhill Foundation hopes that one new pair of shoes can provide many benefits such as increased self-esteem, physical activity, attendance, positive behavior, classroom engagement, and more.
This special program celebrates students and encourages success. Listerhill partners with the California-based organization, Shoes That Fit, who has provided over 2 million pairs of shoes to children across the US since 1992.
We are so incredibly grateful to Listerhill Credit Union and Listerhill Foundation for this wonderful opportunity for our students!
