Sixth grade students at Elkmont High School participated in a school-wide storytelling competition on Thursday. The winner will represent the school at the annual Athens Storytelling Festival later this month.




We were thrilled to have the Skyrockets and Rockets Team 34 robotics team present to school board members at Tuesday night's work session.







Superintendent Dr. Randy Shearouse held his first meeting with his Student Advisory Council this week. This group is made up of class officers from each of the six high schools as well as Career Tech. We are looking forward to a fun year with this group!







Earlier this afternoon, State Representative Ben Harrison stopped by the Central Office to present Superintendent Dr. Randy Shearouse with a generous donation to be used at our schools. We appreciate his support of our students!

The Limestone County Board of Education recently received the Team Training Achievement Award from the Alabama School Board Association. The award recognizes school boards that have had 60 percent or more of their members attend at least three AASB conferences in an academy year and, in that same year, have had all members of their boards meet state-mandated training requirements. The award was presented at AASB's Fall District Meeting earlier this month.

Students from across the District had a chance to explore post secondary options today during a College Fair on the campus of Athens State.






DREAMS TO RINGS: The Tanner High School boys soccer team capped off a magical season Wednesday with a special ring ceremony. The Rattlers won the Class 1A-3A state title back in May.



WELCOME BACK: Buses are back on the road and hallways are full of students again! It has been a GREAT first day back!




Faculty and staff from Elkmont and Piney Chapel Elementary Schools got a first hand look at the progress being made at the new Elkmont Elementary School on Monday. The two groups spent the day collaborating together. Completion of the new school is set for February.





We're gearing up for a great 2023-2024 school year! Principals, Assistant Principals, and other school leaders have spent the last two days planning and learning at our annual LCS Leadership Academy.

This morning Superintendent Dr. Randy Shearouse greeted around 85 new teachers who will be joining our district for the upcoming school year.



Instructors and staff at the Limestone County Career Technical Center have spent this week introducing young students to the world of manufacturing as part of a summer tech camp hosted by the school.








Our Summer of Achievement in Reading (SOAR) and 21st Century programs are off to a great start at all of our elementary schools! Through these summer programs students are able to participate in science, technology, enrichment, art, and music (STEAM) activities, as well as get reading and math instruction.



Several dozen of our middle school students have been participating in a voluntary summer STEM robotics camp at Owens this week. This camp is for rising 6-8 grade students. While there, they've spent time collaborating, designing, building, and coding.
